Ordinary Man
Mapping Diversions @ Rag Factory, London 2008
Inspired by de Certeau’s Ordinary Man: the common hero, unnamable pedestrian, the left-over of humanism, enlightenment and scientific reasoning. This Ordinary Man is no expert in philosophy, history or sociology... rather he lives the poem as he cannot read it, and crosses the space as he cannot see it. Power is knowledge but not vice versa, the power to see and read left to the experts... The Ordinary Man’s invisibility and unreadibility are the tactics that make his journey the everyday...
Part installation, part performance, part street art, part participatory, part lonely assault...
